Memory Prices expected to rise anytime soon?

Planning a new build end of August, I've saved up for it but don't want to buy it yet as I really don't have the time to spare right now and picking the parts, putting it together, installing Windows and playing around with it will be too much of a temptation to resist! ;)

However, seeing as memory prices are so ridiculously low right now, and the market for RAM is so volatile, I'm thinking, would it be a good idea if I bought some RAM now and just sat on it until I got the rest of the parts? If there's a minor earthquake in Taiwan sometime within the next 3 weeks it might double the prices and force me to downgrade to 1GB!

Am I crazy/paranoid/impatient, or does anyone else think this is far from unlikely?

I suppose it does depend on how expensive the memory you intend to buy is at the moment. If it's £150 or less I can't see you losing out too much even if there is a drop in price. I waited last year for prices to drop and they went up twice! I would buy the memory now, you can guarantee the cpu prices will drop so I tend to get my cpu last, memory is so cheap now and if you worry about something going down in price you'll never get a pc built. :)

I bought a socket 939 last year and now the chip is down to £30 whereas I think I paid about £150. Thats pc's for you. :D

In general I'd agree with you, but with memory you just never know do you? I don't think ANYBODY expected the prices to drop to their current level, which happened seemingly overnight a few months back. Sure they might drop more by the end of August, but they can't drop by THAT much because they're the lowest that I remember them being at ever! Whereas if they were to rise, they might rise to their previous level which was almost twice the current prices...
