Memory Prices still on the up, be quick!

Specultion is Gambling

For those buying memory for a “Rainy Day”, know that memory is traded in the Chicago Stock Exchange as a commodity since the early days of IT. This means that it is subject to speculative movement on price. Those playing the “PC HW Game”, [of which OcUK is a succesful outcome for various reasons], be it “Computer Marketeers”, small/part time/DIYers/eBay/Mama-Papa outfitters, etc, etc, have always envied the successful players on the memory market circuit and the most successful have the VAT system to thanked for.

Buy only what you need and when you need it for memory prices swing literally by-the-week - unless you are a memory speculator. Nobody knows which way it will swing or else the big memory boys will be billionaires overnight. Gambling, in any form, is only for the “Market Makers”. The punters are mere fodder for them for those devoid of the Overall View, are blank paper for those who scribe and the victors in any game can tell history the way they like. History is, "What we currently know about the past”.

people are offloading their AMD systems and buying Conroe/AM2 so need DDR2, demand is high at the mo, give it time and all will settle down and im sure prices will fall. If not i'l eat my boxers.

I normally buy stock regular, but stocked up weeks ago on memory so we've not bought in memory from major people like Corsair or GeIL for 3 weeks now and still have approx 4-6 weeks supply. Our prices increase because we keep with market trend and as such we can remain competitive whilst making very high margin levels. Its how the memory game works and if you purchase well its how millions are made. :)

Some are saying the prices won't fall now until next year and its now hitting graphics cards too, especially ones equipped with DDR2 memory.......

The GeIL has lifetime warranty and as market value is increasing on memory if you send it back in 4-8 weeks time you'd still get a full refund or it exchanged for a working set. The chances of this is unlikely as memory has minimal failure rate.
OK, your forcing me to buy that nice looking GeiL PC2-6400 stuff now :( But if it comes down again by the end of the month your going on the list Gibbo... :D

"Blimey - I can't believe the Geil I bought for £130 a few weeks ago is now £200. That's inflation for you."

"Inflation" is the term used by those who "suffers the market" [ie accept what "market forces" dictate and is therefore forced to support it]. Inflation happens because someone is forcing the price movement according to their "plans". These are the "Market Movers" and they literally force the price movement towards their pre-ordained price [i.e "fixing"]. They do this through "news", rumours, etc, and even though they are not that many, they buy/sell big and act as a gang [with or without agreements, usually without].

This is why prices move and this movement is totally artificial and is what Capital Economies work on. In a universe where energy cannot be created nor destroyed, when someone gains, others will loose. This is just another word for greed for these economies are mere gambling pits masquerading as Stock Exchanges. This organising/legitimising of crooks and thieves is currently running the world and forcing all other options onto The Cockraoch Route. We must make errors but we must not keep them for errors are merely saving graces ... but only if we don't keep them. But making more errors is an entirely different matter. It's called Immorality.

"The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed -- for lack of a better word -- is good.

Greed is right.

Greed works.

Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit.

Greed, in all of its forms -- greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge -- has marked the upward surge of mankind"

Gordon Gekko "Wall Street" (1987)

A little knowldege is a dangerous thing which is why Gekko went to the slammer. At least that’s the moral of the movie. The dangerous thing here is that the writer mistaken/misrepresented greed as awareness.

Awareness counters the habitual. Greed is the awareness of a thief. We derive our awareness through our 5 main senses. When we over-use our awareness, like how some “bent-nosed” type “entreprenuers” have the “vision” to exploit and call it opportunity, we corrupt our senses. When we corrupt our 5 senses, like a gourmet, say, we can never achieve our higher senses which are our 6th and 7th senses. When our 5 senses are coupled to our consciousness, these become more aware. Animals, say, have a higher sense of smell, but they have no consciousness of filth. Some even eat their own stools.

Habitual is indulgence and provides comforts. It’s addictions which we can never shed. It is the basis of the blame culture. And those with greed exploits them. To reach our higher awareness, we have to witness, not judge. We only need to judge our self for if we are not balanced within, nothing else without will be balanced [from our viewpoint]. The higher awareness [of which greed is one of the lowest form] is the reason why we are born. We can only satisfy our addictions temporarily, [because transient power is cyclical which is why “Wants in general are insatiable”] but through our higher awareness, we can reach the power that is permanant. Permanant Power do not judge but gives and gives. From that state/viewpoint, power is not power but Love. Love, like the scent from a dying flower, say, just gives, regardless of the stature of the recepient. Whatever that is living is progressive and helical. Which is why we die and will be reborn if we so wish. But how can we verify this? Through our 6th and 7th senses.

DUDE.......

HI there

Well prices increasing further this week. Corsair prices have gone up massively. OcUK is still very competitive if not the cheapest in the UK but we must follow the market trend and increase our pricing during this period. Memory people are now saying prices probably won't drop until after Christmas.

At this rate decent 2GB PC2-6400 kits could end up close to £300.....

Hehe, at least you made me happy with the increases :) At least I feel a little better now knowing I got it at a really good price :)

At least these price hikes give me an incentive to wait longer until upgrading.

Probably enter the DirectX 10 era, if these comments are right about being December before prices reduce.

It's called making a fashion statement Through elevating a product to a fashion status, where value is discarded in favour of wanton desire, the fashion pimp can sell anything at any sustainable price, and sustainable here means the feeding of an addiction which has no limits other than how to afford it [i.e through prostituting, stealing, etc in the case of a drug addicition].

A few hundred years back, in Holland, the "bent-noses" managed to hoodwinked the greedy to buy Tulip flowers at costs that is more than the price of typical houses at that time. Addiction, which not only pertains to drugs, can be anything that provides comfort. Being greedy is an addiction that only a disaster or near disaster, can alleviate. When you can no longer walk, it just might force a halt to a mountaineering addicition.

There will always be a chain between the addict and the source and those are not to be blamed. We, the individual, are to be blamed unless we are not yet capable of self-governance. That is the other side of Caveat Emptor. Of course, the main problem for an addict is to accept that the weakness is an addiction.... and I don't care for I just want a Titan Amanda ....... she is just so deeleeshious ... I mean the picture of course ...

Its simple really

SUPPLY and DEMAND

Isnt this a strange world.
1900xt for £200 and 2Gig mem for £300.

I know, I would be doing a full upgrade just now if it weren't for 2 things:

1) Lack of a reasonably priced Conroe mobo, to suit my needs
2) RAM prices

I dont agree with that as far as performance and PC OCing is concerned, Fanboys yes but hardware fashion no.
If your statement is correct then why dont prices of other hardware fluctuate to the same extent as RAM.

Current DDR2 memory is around £50/MB. So why is it that some memory is worth £200+. Asda George’s “fashion” items are £8/trousers pair but you can buy some continental sounding trousers for any price you dare dreamed up. Material-wise, they are similar, but it’s the “intellectual property rights” that makes all the difference. Depending on whose intellect. DRAM is a commodity and is speculative but even so, it can’t shoot to stratospheric levels unless it comes under “supply & demand”’s thumbs. Supply & Demand is just another term for what’s fashionable. It was fashionable to sign-up to “defend europe” against the Germans during WW1 and they used the likes of “It’s You ****” to do it. Coccaine used to cost a mint when it was “rare” because the fashionites were using it, but when “Afgani White” is now being counterfeited [!!], it’s plummeted. It’s no longer fashionable cos’ every TD&Hs’ using it, ain’t it. Now, find a way to mix it with some real Viag .. Va.. Voom, and you’ve got yourself a minter. You’ve got a fashion statement and those with spare lollies will also want to have a go. Value is Risk vs Potential and has no real marker. It depends on the individual’s wanton desire to cost it. In reality, most staple items don’t cost that much. It’s the “Risk” items that do.

lol - "fasionable" and "computer hardware" are just not phrases that I ever see going hand in hand!

Fasion is based on opinion, computer hardware is based on performance.

There goes my new pc into a dream again. :/

Concentrate on looking to cquad core for my next upgrade i spose? If memory prices aren't like 1k by then :P

“Fasion is based on opinion, computer hardware is based on performance.” ....

Fashion is not an opinion. Fashion is wanton desire unleashed through the prompting by those who thinks, imagine, coax, persuade, demand, etc, that a certain level of “quality”, performance, superiority, status, division, etc, is the reason for their existence at that particular time. Ever heard anybody championing that fashion be applied to fairness, justice [it dosn’t exist within the “affairs of men”], equity, morality, good behaviour, etc. Really?

Fashion is about division, stratification, etc, to fulfill an emptiness within those so afflicted. Say if we know with 101% certainty [ie no doubt whatsoever], that we don’t die, but merely changes race, status, etc, based on a set of unchangeable principles like if we harm someone, we will bear the Justice enumerated. In that case, what will everyone do about fashion? Or money? Or food? Or that Titan Amanda [This gizmo is for real compared to an “oc-able” Ahsus P5wxyz. So taiwanses can be innovative too].

To a rabbit, which has no sense of evolution/consciouness/conscience [because it cannot think for it has no speech], it simply dosn’t matter whether “re-incarnation” is real or not. To a person with multiple addictions, it just might be enough to compel him to reflect on his situation but mostly, he will not “make the grade” without assistance. Only those who are ready for higher evolution, [and evolution for humans is already at its pinnacle and we do not need a larger brain or alien-like features to “make the grade” for the whole package is “ready to go”], will receive it. The original Magic Bullet. The more we indulge, the more we move away from Reality, Unity, Truth. Indulgence is being stuck at one principle, be it child molesting, stealing, groupie-ing, footie-ing, “God Bless XYZ-ing”, “being religious”, etc.. That is called Division which is just another word for Power. If we all breathe the same air [and nobody can divided air like they can divide land and call it “countries”], what is Nature trying to say? Fashion is just another word for indulgence.
