I currently have Kingston DDR-400 with CAS of 3 (thats what it is rated for) DIMMs, then i installed some GEILs DDR-400 with CAS of 2.5 to bring me up to a total of 2GB.
After that i booted up and my mobo detects it as DDR333MHz, rather than DDR400MHz. Why is this? Is it because of a difference in CAS timings?
I went in to the BIOS and changed it to 400MHz, but now my RAM all operates at a CAS of 2.5 (which is good of course). My worry is that will my Kingstons die because they are operating at a CAS of 2.5 rather than 3?
Is there any chance of damaging my hardware by forcing my RAM to do this?
