Hi all, newbie here.

I'm currently running an Asus Crosshair and AMD 6400+ black edition and 4x1gb of Corsair RAM (I've forgotten the model name etc)

It's been running absolutely fine up until this week. I shut the computer down on Sunday night, and switched it back on on Monday. Usually it would boot straight up, but on this occasion nothing happened, but the LCD poster said DET DRAM. I managed to work out that the system will not boot if any memory is installed in slots 3 or 4, but will be fine if it's in 1 or 2. I've checked all the sticks and they are fine and also checked the voltage, which if I remember correctly was set at 2.0v.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your time :)

Can you be more specific on the RAM model and name? Sounds like you may have a bad memory controller or some bad RAM slots on the MOBO. Also, you may want to do some Googling and see if your CPU is one of those succeptible to "errata".

The RAM in question is
Corsair 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL5(5-5-5-12)

I've searched in google and found quite a few people with similar probs, but using different varieties of RAM. Nobody seems to have found a fix though.

This portion quoted above makes me believe that you the problem is not the RAM. Sounds like the MOBO to me or possibly the memory controller.
