I thought I'd post for some help on a problem I've got.

I was playing some games and got crashes, checking Windows Event Viewer I see a couple of these...

Source: Application Popup
Event ID: 1801
Level: Error
User: N/A
Text: The hardware has reported an uncorrectable memory error.

Then I decide to run Prime95 and get the following in a matter of seconds

FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.49609375, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.49609375, expected less than 0.4

FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4

I'm tempted to say, that looking at these 2 errors combined... my memory is fubar'd.

Or is it still worth finding a bootable cd with memtest on it?

For reference I'm running 2 x1gb Sticks of Crucial Ballistix from OC alongside a Q9300.

Any idea's guys? I hope these components haven't gone bad within 5 months of getting them.

That's almost certainly your problem. They're tripe (yes they overclock like crazy, but their failure rates are also crazy). Run Memtest86+ and if it starts spitting out errors then check that you have set the correct memory voltage (2.2v usually for Ballistix). If you have then RMA them back to Crucial in Scotland. They're well used to handling Ballistix RMA's.
