Memory Problem?

Ok where to start:

Q9550@ 3.4Ghz
2x2 Corsair Dominator PC8500
Asus P5N-T Deluxe
Vista x64 Ultimate
Bios 1404 (most up to date)

The CPU overclock itself is stable the problem I think comes with the memory but would like a few more opinions.

First the motherboard itself sets the ram to 800MHz by default when it should be 1066MHz and the motherboard supports 1066MHz or so it says on its specs and the box. So I manually set the timings to it's "default" 5-5-5-15 2T 2.1v

I load into Windows fine and there are no problems. The problem comes from when I switch the PC off and let it rest for an amount of time then switch it on again. Upon post/start-up it will freeze and hang at the point it should detect the memory so I reset the PC and then it will detect the memory fine only at the 800MHz value. Enter Bios again then exit and it will load up on the set timings. Next I tried to have it linked and it had the same problems and this was only on start up after a long period of it being off.

Now I have manually set it to 800MHz and am going to leave it at this and see if it will start up right next time.

So what does everyone think? I heard the P5N-T Deluxe doesn't seem to like running memory at the highest quoted it can (1066MHz) and that people who have tried to clock it to the default get instabilies but anyone else think I can avoid this somehow?

I included all the details and worded it as best I can, sorry for the read.

PS: This is a friend borrowing Solundors account who recently signed up but I am a long time OcUK Customer =), not even sure if this falls into this catagory to be honest!

EDIT: So there's a memory section... sorry mods =/
