I have 4 modules of the above RAM, which I purchased on 2 separate orders.

All 4 modules state PC6400 800Mhz on the packaging and receipts, however when I load up CPU-Z. Slot 1 and 2 state PC2-6400 and slot 3 and 4 state PC2-5300.

I have 4 ram slots on my motherboard and when I swap the ram around. The 2 ram sticks that I purchased earlier always state PC2-6400 and the other 2 state PC2-5300.

If I place 1 stick from each order it will run at the lowest speed of PC2-5300.

The details of my pc are below:

Motherboard: P5WD2-E premium
Motherboard BIOS: AMI - 7000610
CPU: Intel Pentium D 2.66mhz
Memory: Geil - 4x512mb PC6400 (Should run at 800mhz)
PSU: Xilence Gaming Edition - 600 Watts PSU ATX 2.0
Graphics: Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900XT
Operating system: Windows XP Pro SP2

I have taken screen shots for ease of reference:

I do not know what is causing the problem. According to the documentation, they should all be running at PC2-6400.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

They've just got different SPD tables.

The Memory tab of CPU-Z is the one you need to be interested in. It gives the current speed, which will almost certainly be 333mhz if you haven't manually set them to 400mhz in your BIOS. You'll need to change the timings too. But be sure to set the correct memory voltage if they need more than 1.8v to run at PC6400 speeds.

heres a screen shot of my CPU-Z memory and BIOS.

Does it look correct?

Should the part numbers be same in CPU-Z?

Is the DRAM Frequency set to the highest setting?

I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to run PC6400 any faster than PC4200 speeds with that CPU. Four times the CPU FSB is usually the fastest you can run your memory, so 133mhz x 4 = 533mhz. You can try overclocking the FSB to see if you can get it up to atleast 166mhz and get the memory running at PC5300 speeds.

I am not sure if i am explaining this correctly.

I just removed 2 modules from my motherboard and CPU-Z is showing slot 1 and slot 2 as max bandwith PC2-6400 (800mhz). (This is what i am expecting to see for all slots). This was the first dual channel kit i purchased. The kit i bought later on, says max bandwith PC2 5300mhz (333mhz).

I was under the impression, as the RAM modules are all the same, just purchased on different dates. All slots including 1, 2, 3 and 4 should show up as PC2 6400 (800mhz)

I am going about this whole thing incorrectly?

As I mentioned in my first post, they've just got different SPD tables. It shouldn't make any difference to the actual memory, and won't stop all 4 sticks running at PC2-6400 speed.
