Memory product lifespan

I've just built a new PC and have populated two of the four memory slots (32GB of Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400).

Even though I don't need any additional memory I'm tempted to fill all slots just in case I can no longer obtain the same memory type in the future.

So, how long can I expect the same memory product to be available? Has anyone been caught out by this in the past?

Memory tends to sick around for a very long time, even if you can't buy new there's always the second hand markets. I needed some DDR3 recently for an older system upgrade and was still able to source it with ease :)

Is that ultra low latency stuff? If so, it is possible you might have trouble getting that in future, though Corsair still sells Vengeance DDR3 kits, so I don't see why they'd stop with DDR4.

Though, if you're only a gamer it's not really worth having 64GB.

I wouldn't bother.
If you did need more memory in the future, odds on that by then, there would be faster sticks available so you potentially remove those two and fit 2x32GB of super duper RAM in just two slots.
Then you could sell your old RAM or use it in another PC.
