I’m having trouble with the memory in my shuttle (as some will know :D) i have to sticks of 1gig OCZ, and simply could not install Vista with them both plugged in. After trying EVERYTHING i tried an install with 1 stick and it worked fine. I have tested using memtest on each stick and both together - no errors at all, i even let it test all night. So the memory seems good to me, that leave’s bios settings or a compatibility issue, or a dodgy mobo.

I don't know enough about the bios settings so if anyone has any guides or stages to take through i would be very grateful. I have pasted the full spec of memory below

OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2
- 800MHz DDR2
- CL 4-4-4-15 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
- Platinum Mirrored XTC* Heatspreader
- OCZ Lifetime Warranty
- 1.9-2.0 Volts
- 240 Pin DIMM
- OCZ Enhanced Latency Technology
- 2.2V EVP**

The first thing I'd look at is the bios. See if you can find a setting that states the RAM voltage, and check this is at the 1.9-2V the spec reccomends. This should be the only setting you need to change, so it shouldnt be too tricky.

PK!

ok thanks mate, and when it says 190 - 200 is that a figure between that number?

Worth a try. However, if it was at 1.9 already then I'd be a little worried that it wasn't the voltage that's an issue.

What error message is it giving you for why vista won't install? Is it crashing during the install or is it something else?

yeah crashing during the install with both sticks inserted, installed with one stick, but getting lock ups and blue screens 'memory mangement' memtest reports no errors though.... not sure what to do, the machine won't post with 2 sticks in anymore either.
