Memory query on MSI K8N Neo 2 mobo......

I want to upgrade my current 1gb of memory (2 x 512 sticks) to 2gb. My question is, since I have 4 sockets, can I add another 2 sticks of 512mb to make 2gb and have it still run in dual channel @ 200mhz???

I once added 2 x 256mb sticks making 1.5gb in total (all these the same Geil value memory btw) and a) my machine became unstable and b) the boot up screen showed the speed as 166mhz?!?!?!????

Seems a shame to have to buy 2 1gb sticks when I have 4 memory banks!!!

Anyone know if I can just do the above??

My bro has this same mobo, and CPU-Z reported it as not being in dual channel! they where matched pairs and so it looked like they should have worked....but they didnt....

Anyway, i think if you have a look on the MSI website it has a small table showing the different configurations that you can have and if i remember correctly, the RAM must be in either slots 1 & 3/ 2 & 4 to work in dual channel! but don't quote me on it take a look at this link and see if you can....

If you look at the link in kmistry's post...

Please select the identical memory modules to install on the dual channel

That's prolly why it became unstable.

Also note..

D D D D DDR 333 <in bottom of chart.

If you put 4 sticks of Double Side memory in, it runs @ DDR 333 so you have to use a divider.
That's what everyone goes the 2 X 1 gig route.

Thanks for the link, just had a look.....

Question is, is Geil value DDR400 3200 memory single or double sided?? I assume its double?!? (with it being DDR) - Although I cant find it on the Geil website either way??

And if it is "Double" - is it still going to be substantially faster running 2gb @ 333 or 1gb @ 400?!?!?

(although I'm sure it shows the speed as 200mhz on my boot up???
