I have 8gig of 800mhz pc6400 ddr2 memory in my p45 motherboard and have my myq6600 cpu overclocked to 3.3ghz but i can't get my cpu to overclock any higher. Would changeing the 800mhz ram to 1066mhz pc8500c5 ram be a be gud change as i was told the ram i have could be holding me back. I was thinking of replacing my 800mhz with 8 gig of Kingston HyperX 8GB 4x2 DDR2 8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit .

Well while the PC8500 ddr2 was cheap today i brought some as my brother is on some old ddr 2 but i can't get my Pc8500 to go from 800mhz to 1066mhz. Any help with the settings would be helpful. iI have gigabyte motherboard.

I have a gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P motherbard with a Q6600 overclocked to 3.3ghz, my ram is set to 5-5-5-15 at 2.2v. In the bios it just says 800 mhz and when i check on cpu-z it says in the spd it says i have Pc6400mhz ram.

It says on cpu z the dram freq is 412.0mhz. I have even taken 2 stick of my ram out to see if it was because i had 8 gig in and it still won't display 1066mhz in the bios or any windows based sofware. I put all 8gig sticks back in.

Just tried that and still no go, i even put my pc back to stock setting with my cpu running at 2.4ghz but it still show my ram at 800mgz in the spd. This is stupid i mean the motherboard supports 1066mhz and the memory is 1066mhz but it runs at 800mhz. I may as well have kept my old 800mhz ram in.

I see on a lot of forums people are having problems gettin 1066 with ram and what makes this worst for me keep having bsod's now my memory has changed. I've memtested the ram and it passed the test. Starting to wish i kept my old ram in but looks like i'll just have to mess around with the settings.

The last few days i tested my 8ghz of ram with memtest and they passed so i took all the ram out of my memory slots and just put 2 sticks or ram in to see and to my suprise my pc booted up at 902mhz with spd 2.40B. Here is some info.

I have also set the ram to 1003mhz with 2.66d

I have now put all 8gig of ram back in and my pc will now boot at 902 at the spd of 2.40b but the pc freezes on the windows boot screen or restarts when set to 1003 at 2.66d. I don't understand why the ram would do this after i took the ram out as before it would not even post.
