didn't really look to far :(
im still kinda learning the in's and outs of PC's etc

but i was wonder if anyone can explain the difference mainly of the dual channel and the tri channel

does dual mean i have to have like 4 RAM slots? then put 1 each color ?

and then tri channel is 6 slots and 1 on each color ?

or can i just put 3 tri channel in 3 of the 4 slots.. lol

sorry im a noob >.> but im just learning all help appreciated a lot :D

If there's 4 slots, than you should put ONE STICK to 1st from left slot and SECOND STICK to 3rd from left slot (they usually same color)!

As to learning about Ram, read Explanation of RAM, in this section!

yeah kinda ddint answer my question tbh :)

you know how its like normally light blue and dark blue slots or red and yellow

do i need 3 red slots and 3 yellows slotted memory modules for tri channel

or can i put 3 tri channel RAM's in 3 of a 4 slot moduels (2 red 2 yellow slots..)

Aye, that is how to configure triple channel memory. Theoretically, triple channel has 50% more bandwidth than dual channel and three times as much as single channel mode. However, in terms of real performance difference - triple channel is often no faster or marginally faster than dual channel since most applications don't make use of this level of memory bandwidth. If you are gaming for example, triple channel offers no performance benefit over dual channel when using "standard" 1600MHz DDR3 RAM.

Also, triple channel is only available on a small number of boards, specifically the ones using the X58 intel chipset and use socket LGA 1366 processors (like these boards). Other board (and CPUs) will not work with triple channel memory and if you try and install a triple channel memory kit, it will revert to single channel mode.

It is not always the case, in identifying the correct ram slot order, read your motherboard manual.

my Asus M4A79XTD for instance, the #1 ram slot, is the third along from the cpu :p

okay i got another question now lol

whats more efficient 4 slots of 2 GB each

or 2 slots of 4 GB both DDR3 dual channel
