I want another 4GB of memory, the memory i have in my system isn't available any longer, as Corsair basically EOL'd it, so do i have to search high and low for the same memory, or can i choose another different type of memory and put it in my system?

Choose another set that is close as possible in spec - i.e. frequency, timings and voltage..

What is the part number of your existing memory - look at CPUz under the spd tab.

Just checked my orders: Corsair Dominator XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 16000C9D Twin3X (TW3X4G1600C9D).

For clarity that's these - link?

So you need to buy a set that has the similar/same spec as below:

  • 1600Mhz (frequency)
  • 9-9-9-24 (timings)
  • 1.65V (max tested voltage is 1.8V)

You could try the latest Dominators link but their max tested voltage is 1.65V unlike your present Dominators which is 1.8V (but this 'shouldn't be a problem as they're advertised to run at 1.65V - no guarantees of course).

What voltage are your present dominators running at?

If they're running at 1.8V try droping them to 1.65V as they should still work perfectly (as that is the standard recommended running voltage). And if they do the new Dominators 'should' drop in without any issues as the timings and frequencies match exactly.

Yup, that link is correct, do those latest Dominators work on AMD? As it only appears to state Intel.

I know what you mean - as your old set was guaranteed to work on both intel and AMD platforms.

Where as the blurb on the new Dominators states:

Corsair said:
•Guaranteed to work on all dual channel Intel platforms

However, this doesn't meant that it wont work in your AMD setup, and i doubt that you would have any issues but if you want to make sure ask in the 'OcUK Pre-Sales Forum' - link.

5UB is usually lurking about and is incredibly helpful with queries such as yours - i would be surprised if you didn't have an answer within an hour or two.
