Never had a reason to read up on these chips, so just wondering if you guys could recommend a suitable memory upgrade for a colleague of mine. He's looking to upgrade to a gig or beyond, depending on cost.

Hopefully this should give you enough info to be going on with:

I'd say as little as possible, being a bit short on cash at the moment. He just wants an increase in performance for a little outlay in cash (don't we all!) so anything under the £100 mark ought to be easy enough to talk him in to.

Geil Value is excellent, runs tighter timings than its rated at and will still clock to 225-235FSB ish :)
another vote for GeIL Value ram... its really anything but Value ram - it overclocks well and pushes pretty well too. most importantly its good, solid and stable... if anything does go wrong - you've got a lifetime warranty with GeIL too :)

used to use a 2x512mb set in my old P4 rig, and it's now in my girlfriends system chugging along nicely.
