Hey guys,

Can someone recommend me some decent, overclockable fast ram for my E8400 system?

I’ve currently got 2 GB of Crucial Ballistix but I’m not sure they’re 100% compatible with my Gigabyte mobo and processor…

Ideally, I don’t want the new stuff to cost the earth in case I upgrade to ddr3 in the near future :)

Ideas?

Cheers,

SW.

I don't see why the Ballistix wouldn't be compitable with the DS3R?

I've had no issues with it on Gigabytes.

;)

What sort of problems are you getting with the Ballistix? Tbh most of the great overclocking memory is going to be Micron D9's too unless you look at PC8500 (tho ironically the newer Ballistix is using a different chip).

I'm getting quite a few random bsod atm, which is starting to annoy me...

Plus I've heard a lot of stories of the Ballistix dying after only a short while? Mine are about 8 months old

I want full system stability again and I just fancy a change ;)

SW.

Crucial Ballistix For warranty support and RMA replacement call Crucial Direct on 0800 013 0330 or 01355 586 100 who will replace your faulty memory within 48 hours. Why buy when you can RMA them, Lifetime Warranty.

48 hrs??? really? that quick. Great. Mines just failed and was expecting a 3 week turn around based on a previous experience with another manufacturer. Saved me a few quid as i was about to order some 'inthemeantime' replacements. Thanks.

48hrs is maybe a little hopeful. But they only go to Scotland, and you can usually expect them back within 5 working days, usually faster unless they have to wait for new stock.
