I have the the setup in my sig however I would like to increase my memory to at least 8GB as I'm using one virtual OS and I have plans to add more however running with even one is a bit of chore given that some of memory is already taken up by the onboard graphics.

My current memory is 1.65v whereas my board is rated to 1.5v but runs fine on it however if needs be I'll swap that memory out for something else and sell it off.

I would be grateful for your advice as to what to buy and on whether to keep what I've got and just add more memory to the 2 remaining slots.

If you want to add to your existing RAM then I would personally go with another Gskill kit - to maximise the chance of it working fine.

That said, if you want to really push the boat out in terms of memory then you may want to try two of these kits for a low-cost option or this kit for maximum performance (and sell your existing kit).

looking at this and this articles - it doesn't seem that memory frequency or latency greatly affects performance of most real-world applications using your platform.

If your ram needs 1.65v to run then i'd recommend just getting 2 x 4gb of some more 1.65v RAM.

However 1.65v ram sometimes runs fine at 1.50v or 1.55v etc.

Still i'd avoid the hassle and just get some 1.65v RAM that is the same speed and timings (if possible) and enjoy 12gb!

The only thing I'm concerned about with the G.Skill is that my current memory wants 1.65v when my board is rated to 1.5v therefore I'd be worried by adding more memory in addition to the current stuff that I'd be taking a big risk that I'd run into compatibility issues.
