This may well have been discussed before, if so my apologies.

What is the best setup for your memory to maximise ppd? i.e Low Latency, or high frequency ? (both is best of course, but i can't afford super hot memory)

I have the option to run my 2Gb Geil kit at either 4-4-4-12 @ 800Mhz or 5-5-5-15 @ 1000Mhz on my Q6600 @ 400x9.

Its currently at 800Mhz (stock speed) but don't really wanna mess too much mid-work unit.

Opinions Please.

Cheers,

Rich.

Tbh you're better benchmarking both settings and seeing which is faster, tho I can't see there being much difference.

You'd have to try it! On a quad I have a hunch that 1000 might be slightly better but I think the difference will be minimal.

my initial gut reaction is 1000, on a core quad. you need to maximise memory bandwidth. but as others say, benchmark it.
