Memory Size Reporting Incorrectly?

Hi Folks

I've just built a nice new i7 rig and I've got a wierd problem. When I boot up the start up screen only shows 4gb of memory when I have 6gb installed, its also the same if I run memtest86+ and in windows7 task manager. If I run any diagnostic tools from windows I can see all three sticks.

My system specs are:

i7 920 D0
Gigabyte GA-EX58
6gb Corsair XMS3 1600C7 (TR3X6G1600C7)

The memory completes memtest with no errors.

Any help would be much appreciated

Try running the RAM in pairs, using different slots. If there's a problem with a module or port, then some tests should come up showing 2GB, so you can narrow it down..

Yeah its 64bit, i'll give that a quick try now and post back.

Well I tried all the combinations and have it nailed down now. Looks like one of the sticks is dead.

so it shows 6gb in windows, but 4gb in bios?
