hi I have a sabertooth z77 mobo with 16gb 1800mhz of ram, I have put the ram in slot 2 and 4 does it matter which slots it goes in, is it best with both banks in slot 1 and 2.....

Yes it matters to get dual channel operation and maximize performance. Use the slot furthest from the CPU miss a slot and then use the next one.!!! Done!!!

It varies, so you really need to check the manuals.

My previous Asus motherboard specifies the exact opposite to my current Gigabtye motherboard.

done a build with saber tooth the other day its 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 i believe.
