Ok, there's lots of questions about memory speed and the A64 so here's some figures from my system. The settings were Identical in each case except for memory timings and divider used.

Opteron 165 @ 2.6Ghz (289HTT)
2GB GSKILL PC4000
POV 7800GTX

1st figure is 133 divider - 185.8Mhz CPU/14 2.5 3 3 6 1T
2nd figure is 166 divider - 236.6Mhz CPU/11 2.5 3 3 7 1T

3dmark 2005
7909 7922

PCmark05
5978 6060

Super PI 1M
34 32

Doom3
74.6 74.8

Fear
Min 29 29
Ave 45 46
Max 60 61

below 25FPS 0% 0%
25-40 FPS 34% 32%
Above 40FPS 66% 68%

In conclusion an approx 27% increase in memory bandwidth made no real difference in anything other than Super PI.

Timings are everything

Have you tried putting memory at 2,3,2,5 1t or even 2,2,2,5 1t (if you can) when its running at 133 divider. i reckon setting the cas to 2 could make some of those benchies quicker.

Hi,

Unfortunately the memory doesn't like timing better than 2.5-3-3-6, I did run it at 2.5-3-3-5 for a while but it would crash in prime after a few minutes. Lowering any other setting results in a non boot or a restart before XP loads.

I'm thinking of setting it for some 2-2-2-5 now I've had chance to experiment.
