hi i run a z370 tuf plus gaming board, 8700k, and 16gb gskill tridentz 4000mhz rated speed ram, i just cant get sorted with it, i have used xmp which for the most part is unstable, so i don't bother with xmp, so i set ram to 3200mhz stable, noticed today the voltage on the ram is 1.5v which i believe is considered to high because the boards auto voltage is to generous, i cannot find anywhere to adjust the voltage myself as there is a whole book on timings and voltages in bios, so i found oc tuner 1 and tried that, bios now says xmp 4000mhz enabled but with ram @3200 @1.35v (much better voltage) and also cpu slight enhancement, sorry but i am a bit lost with what is actually happening, is it on xmp but at best speed or something, if anybody can tell me in simple terms i would be very grateful thanks...

Thanks I only have one xmp profile, I have had it stable before @4000mhz but it was with previous bioses, latest one seems unstable again, and why when I overclock CPU the higher it goes the less ram speed I get, I wish I new what was happening, some people get 5.2ghz on 8700k with 4ghz+ ram? Is that the silicone lottery people go on about...I did hear that overclocking the CPU and the imc at the same time isn't a good thing....

The ram works @3200 great and can work at 4000mhz but nothing in between oddly could that be to do with voltage, if I add voltage to the ram is there a chance it would work at say 3600mhz, but then why doesn't the board add volts itself when I select a speed, and I don't suppose you could tell me where to find the ram voltage at all...

hi i set xmp which is 4000mhz and then just reduced the memory frequency and voilla, i tried 3900 first but then settled on 3800, and i assume its at 1.35 volts as that's what the xmp setting is, having said that though it is still oc the cpu and the ram is also oc....
