I've aquired a laptop from a mate and I'm want to add a further 512meg of memory. Its ordinary DDR sodimm I need and I'm assuming that with the processor speed being 533mhz (quad pumped and all that), I'll need 133mhz speed memory. Am I correct in this?
Cheers

That sounds about right. Btw, i think OCuk should incorporate a "memory selector" thingy to the website, to help with issues like these. Loads of competitors offer these things, & they are handy.

I found the crucial compatibility site and had a look inthere and it confirms its 133mhz that I need. Shoulda used the search button first
Theres a lot of questions relating to laptop memory, so yes, it would be useful if ocuk put something together that would act as a guide.

PC2100 sodimm is what you're after.

Cheers for confirming that mate. Its been a while since I messed with lower speed memory:

pc2100-133(266ddr)
pc2700-166(333ddr)
pc3200-200(400ddr)

I thinks thats right innit? :)

Well this is a surprise, I loaded up cpu-z, to check the usual out, and it turns out the memory thats already installed is pc2700 running at 166mhz on a 4:5 divider with timings of 2.5-3-3-7. So its pc2700 I need, not pc2100.
