Plan to overclock opteron 144 (skt 939) to max on Asus a8n sli Premium. Can anyone tell me which speed of memory I need? Or even a brand? I'm thinking Mushkin 4000. Thanks for all replies (if any) in advance.

Welcome to the forums :)

My basic recommendation for simple overclocking is to go with some PC3200 with nice tight timings, GSkill ZX, Corsair CAS2 or OCZ.

The reason for this is that you can use a divider quite happily on A64 to keep the memory speed around 200mhz whilst pushing the CPU speed up, without much of a performance hit at all. It makes for nice simple clocking and you end up with a very well performing system.

If you want to push every last bit of performance out of your system, you can look at PC4000 and above, but the gains you make aren't huge.

^ Perfect reply & agreed.

Go for PC3200 with tight timings and just use the divider. Tests have proven that there is virtually no performance hit.
