Memory speed timings and bandwidth

So I've wondered this for a while.

If I have some ram running at 1600mhz with timings 8 8 8 and some running at 2400mhz with timings 12 12 12, are the timings in absolute terms the same in ms?

Ie because ram b is running 50% quicker than ram a the timings even out?

12/2400=8/1600? So a would be preferable because of the greater bandwidth and same absolute timings?

Thanks

there's a balance on various platforms. E-platforms are all about the additional bandwidth, but lower latency at high speeds is always preferable obviously.

For example CL9 or 8 on X79 at 2133 is quite reasonable compared with say CL11 2400. Whether you'll notice any difference between this and also command rates is down to your workload.
