I bought this from Ock - Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel Kit.

In cpuid 64 it says the below

Memory
DRAM FREQ = 539.7 MHZ
FSB DARAM = 2.8
CLOCKS = 8

Is this ram running at 1600mhz or not is the question?

Thanks

Nick

Well, is 539.7 * 2 equal to 1600 or not?

It's running at the speed the bios has told it to. It'll run faster if you go into the bios and tell it to, but I would suggest stability testing if you do so. The ram can do 1600mhz, it doesn't follow that the rest of the computer can also cope with 1600mhz ram. So test it.

Ok,

I bought the whole pc from Ocks and would exspect the ram to run at 1600mhz. If it is not how do i change it in the bios. I have listed below my set up
Case: Xigmatek Midgard Midi Tower - Black
- Power Supply: Corsair TX 650W
- CPU: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz overclocked to 4.00GHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
- Cooler: H70
- 120 GB SSD
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel Kit
- Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
- Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 580 1536MB GDDR5

Thanks

Nick

+1.

Derp. :p

You need to look for the memory multiplier and adjust, it may be the case that due the BCLK speed the memory may run over the setting of 1600mhz or under as your seeing now.

Unless I have misunderstood, the FSB : DRAM is a memory dividor - in which case, the memory is running at 539.7 * 2.8 = 1511.16, not 539.7 * 2 = 1079.4 as previously sugested. Did I get that wrong?

That's incorrect, DDR memory runs x2 of what CPU-z shows.

What sped is the BCLK showing and the multiplier setting of the CPU.

Sorry yes, you should be overclocked, press F12 in the BIOS menu and load the saved profile.

If you look at the bottom it should say load BIOS from CMOS Or along those lines.

I owe you a beer or two. The profile was not set at 4ghz cpu and ram is now running at 1600mhz ( selected OCUK profile )

Bit naughty of Ocks not to set this.

Another one solved. Thank you very much. Gonna monitor temps now. Thought it was running cold. Just looked and CPU temps are i7 950 @ 39 idle and underload not above 61c. I take it that's ok?

That looks good :)

The BIOS may of reset it's self on start up, mine has done this once or twice in the past.

Your up at 4ghz Enjoy :)
