I guess this is a pretty standard question, but i wasnt sure because of sandybridge.

Basically i have 8GB kingston Genesis Greys which are supposed to run at 1600MHz/9.9.9.27 2N at 1.5-1.65v.

Want to be sure i wont fry my new CPU

Its currently running at 1333/9.9.9.24 at 1.5v i think.

(MSI GD55 Gen 3 + I5 2500k)

I'm not sure what your question is - but your memory is running under spec at:

  • 1333MHz - Frequency
  • 9 9 9 24 - Timings
  • 1.5V - Voltage (hopefuly even running at full spec you will be ablt to run at ~1.5v)

You need to go into the BIOS and set the memory up manually so that the settings read:

  • 1600 MHz - Frequency
  • 9 9 9 27 - Timings
  • 2T (2N) - Command rate
  • 1.5V - Voltage (hopefuly even running at full spec you will be ablt to run at ~1.5v)

Save and exit.

You can confirm that the settings have saved correctly via CPUz using the memory tab - although this wont confirm the voltage.

Basically, anything under 1.58V is a bonus with an SB setup and the Kingston Greys that you have should be able to run at 1.5V, or there abouts, without any issues.

Breathe easy you're in no danger of frying anything...

Additional: If your question was meant to read: 'how do i set the memory up in the BIOS?' post back.
