Hi,

I'm just about to order my Q6600 and either an Abit IP35 Pro or Asus P5K pro mobo. I currently have GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-5300C4 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB5300DC) in there. I'd like at some point to be able to put in 4Gb. Am I better sticking with this Geil or getting something different (either 2Gb now that I can add to later) given that I want to OC the Q6600?

Cheers

Andy

Depends on how far you want to take your overclock.

3.6ghz will give you 9x 400 and with some 6400 ram will give you that 1:1 and the ram will not be stressed at all.

You could get some Geil 4x1GB sticks of 6400 and get 3.6ghz with ease on either the ABIT or the ASUS.

Which of the following would be the best choice for picking up 2GB now and then adding 2 in a few months?

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400DC)
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Black Dragon DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GB22GB6400C4DC)

Cheers

Are there not some issues with oc'ing with 4.gb fitted?

Would any of the above do? thinking of the PC2-6400C4?

Andy

P35 mobos cope really well.

I ran 4x 1GIG sticks in my ABIT P35pro and ran my Q6600 at 3.6ghz 24/7

In the ASUS maximus (x38) I ran my Q6600 at 3.8ghz 24/7.

All with 4 gig of ram all with 4 slots filled.

No problems.
