Memory Stick

Well a family member has asked me to find them a memory stick. They don't know how much they'll have on it, but i think 1GB would do them fine. Anything extra is just a bonus really. They want it as cheap as possible, but only if it's worth having. I'm not really an expert in this field, and i wouldn't really recommend my Kingston Data Traveller since i've had problems with it on XP and on school systems (they're a teacher). So do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

It's probably best he asks his school ICT support team. Some schools even sell memory sticks to the students, they'll probably sell him one if he asks nicely.

Wrong gender... but still, i don't think that's entirely necessary. The IT department at their school is hopeless anyway. Besides, i know lots of people using their own memory sticks. Just thinking it's better to get from a reliable brand rather than the cheapest one's the school could find.

Well the Kingston i have doesn't work half the time on school computers, the rest of the time you have to use a 'cheat' to get around it. I've been looking at the Corsair one's, anybody have any experience with those?

I've got the 8GB one, and sometimes it works but most of the time it does on school computers. When you click open it asks you what program you want to open it with... so you have to click browse, then change it from programs to all files and then find your memory stick, where you can access the files in a roundabout sort of way. It's just not a practical solution though, so i don't want them to have to deal with this.

She's not having problems. She doesn't have a memory stick. She wants one. I'm trying to find her one.

I was just saying that i won't recommend Kingston because i have one and i've had problems on school computers.

Exactly. She's a teacher. I don't want to give her a memory stick that's going to have problems with school computers.

But yeah, i think i will tell them to do that.

@ above, i didn't put their gender because it's not really information i want to disclose. Just because i don't put it doesn't mean you should immediately assume it's one or the other. Needless to say, it's completely irrelevant to the topic.
