Memory Storage Device?

I am currently working on my final year dissertation on The History of Memory Storage Devices, and was wondering what other people thought the definition of a memory storage device is?

Also, if you are someone important in a well established organisation, it would be great if you could email me your details and permission to quote your definition (email address in trust)

Was thinking more along the lines of electronics
