I have this ram - OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9

With this board - Asus P6T SE Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard [90-MIB870-G0EAY00Z]

It was only showing 4gb in the bios and computer properties in W7, so i swaped the first and last sticks of ram and it's now showing 6gb.

Question, should i be concerned that the ram will fail in the future?

What are the best free progs to test the ram?

I think most use memtest but I don't know if it works on windows7.

It might just have been needing re-seated, sometimes RAM needs taken out & put in again to make sure it's in ok.

Thanks for the quick reply, googled memtest looks like its a bootalble ISO. I don't have any disks so i will have to wait till the morra.

Didn't know that, I've never used it tbh.

I had a similar problem with my RAM a while back, reseating (& putting the right voltage in....DOH!) fixed it. Been running overclocked for about a year now.

Just poped in to work to switch on my PC and on 1st boot it only shows 4gb.

This is what i've tried so far.

Set the timings manually in the bios (was showing 9 9 9 24 instead of 9 9 9 20) **edtied, did this on Friday as it was only showing 4gb on first boot**

Tried every stick of ram in the 1st slot, boots OK.

Tried every solt with a single stick of ram, boots OK.

After putting all sticks back in it now boots showing 6gb.

A goolge search suggested that a bent pin could cause a problem with the ram controller? I was careful when i put the CPU in place.

Any suggestions would be welcome before i take the CPU out to check for bent pins in the morning.
