Hi, all

I have an asus x58 and core i7 950 OC 4,2

installed 24gb and only 20gb shows in bios boot and win 10 64 bit

Removed OC settings and all 24gb is shown, restore OC setting (purchased mb with OC) and back to 20gb?

memory timings are 7 8 8 24 rrfc 208, i have read that sometimes lowering this to 100 can solve the missing memory, so based on my mb and overclock is this safe to do as thought was worth a go

cpu is installed fine , memory is all fine

any thoughts help appreciated

I am not the hottest on memory timings but the refresh (rrfc) refreshes the ram, I think you would want to loosen the timings slightly rather than preform refreshes double the amount of time, you can try to reduce the rrfc by small amounts and see if that helps.

sounds like you have more than 2 sticks, so you likely wont hit a higher mem oc than if you just had 2 sticks. It also sounds like you have a ram mismatch?

Yes i have 6 sticks of 4gb and 6 slots

Thanks for your reply, you say mismatched ram but i bought this 24gb corsair vengeance as a matched 4gb 6 stick kit??

how do you mean mismatched??

thanks

if its a kit it won't be mismatched ram.

Mismatched ram is where you mix different kits of ram (models or manufacturers).

I would try to loosen the timings until it all shows up, maybe 8, 9, 9, 30. Whats the stock timings? do they have an XMP profile?

stock timings are 9 9 9 24 for this memory but tryed that and due to my OC pc would not boot with 9 9 9 24 and 100 rrct and OC falied or it didnt like it for some reason

XMP profile is enabled in bios, is loosening the timings going to be ok for my OC then

do i need to keep XMP enabled and modify timings to above??

Oh sorry got my wires crossed ,

so what u think bump the Volts first to 1.55 then reset to 1.50v and try them timings above,

yes tryed tryed 4 sticks gave me 12gb not 16gb

full 24gb on removal of OC in bios

cheers for the advice

just wondering if one of the sticks is faulty at the overclock, try 2 and then the next 2, next 2, see if you get to 8gb each time (you can also try different slots on the motherboard to check all the memory lanes work). Once you know its an issue with the overclock, try the voltage to see if it improves it.
