Hi guys,

Basically I have been using vista x64 and 4GB of ram for ages now, and yesterday I started getting loads of errors on my pc and random blue screens, I tried for ages to fix it and gave up and decided to format after a backup,

So I backed up everything and ran the vista installer and after the format vista copied over the necessary files and "expanded them" then it restarted and blue screened every time, It did this every single time I tried to run the installer,

So I started taking things out of my pc and eventually got it to boot and run properly with only 1 stick (1GB) of ram,

When I got everything up and running I put all 4 sticks back in again and it started to blue screen and wouldn't even load windows,

So I ran memtest on every stick (separately) and there were no errors,

Now the weird thing is that all sticks work fine in any combination of sticks, I can use 1GB, 2GB and 3GB in any slots and it will work fine until I put all 4 sticks in at once,

But it has been working fine like this for around 12 months, with no bios or any other settings changed

Any idea what could be wrong or any other information needed?

Thanks

Just an idea, but have you checked your BIOS settings again? Every so often my friends Asrock motherboard would go back to a default settings from the manual ones I put in and cause BSOD's without warning.

If each RAM module is testing fine individually, I would hazzard a guess that its either a BIOS setting or that one of your DIMM slots has developed a fault maybe?

I have checked all the settings and my ram is running at 5-5-5-12 and is rated at 4-4-4-12 everything else is at stock levels too, cpu (q6600) at 2.4GHz and ram (corsair dominator) at 800mhz

I know you say you haven't applied any updates but try updating the bios on your motherboard

My mobo is the asus p5n-e sli and there are no new updates unfortunately, thanks for the answer though
