Currently I'm running a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H motherboard, with 8Gb of Samsung Green DDR3 1600MHz memory. Just thinking of upgrading the memory to 16Gb, as I think I'm starting to hit the RAM limits bit during gaming (Battlefield 1), and also it just feels like its time to have an upgrade! :)

Would it be better to buy another 8Gb memory, or ditch the memory I have and buy 16Gb new?

Prices are high at the moment so I would expand the memory, keeping the old stuff, rather than just throwing it out.

Is that likely to cause me stability issues though? Given that Overclockers don't seem to stock Samsung Green any longer, what product should I consider getting?

Unless you're running tight timings or overclocking the RAM (this includes any frequencies not officially supported by CPU) mixing RAM shouldn't be an issue as long as each stick is compatible with your MB. Not ideal but also shouldn't be an issue.

It should be fine because you can individually set up the timing on both lots of memory. Worst case, even if it did cause an issue, you just need to buy some more of the same stuff and throw the Samsung out, but that's unlikely to happen and it will save you a ton of money.

I would say get 16GB of fast RAM, it will make a difference of maybe 5-10% or more in some scenarios like fallout4 for example, overall 16GB is a few % better most of the time compared to 8gb and probably smoother, also faster RAM helps a bit as well, so overall with fast ram and 16GB, it will make a moderate difference in games. Or you can just get 8GB but I think very soon you will be wanting 16GB. The sweet spot is 16GB 3600mhz C16.

Thanks for all the advice, I've gone with this Team Group Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit, due to be delivered tomorrow.
