Good Day All.

I am looking for some advice with regarding to memory upgrades for my wife's HP Mini 210-2006sa.

As stock this unit has a single 1GB stick of DDR3 SODMIM.

Looking on HP's web site it says you can only have a max of 2GB ram.

But can anyone tell me if this is a hardware or software limitation.

I have read that the preloaded "Windows 7 Starter" has a memory limitation of 2GB, but I don't know about hardware wise.

I would love to be able to install 4GB ram, as 1GB is no good for windows 7, and 2GB is just about bareable.

Thanks for your time.

Best Regards.

Looking at the HP website it says the netbook only has one RAM slot, and that slot only supports up to 2GB. This sounds like a hardware limit to me and the crucial website seems to confirm this with a similar MSI 210 netbook.

Each memory slot can hold DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-10600 with a maximum of 2GB per slot.*

I would suggest upgrading the RAM to a cheap SODIMM 1333MHz 2GB kit from a decent brand. As you say, 1GB is really not enough for win 7 and 2GB will be a lot better (though probably not ideal).
