I'm looking to upgrade the memory on my MacBook Pro from 2Gb to 4Gb (ideally). It's a MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.33Ghz Core 2 Duo (bought it in Feb 2007) with 2Gb 667Mhz DDR2.

On one memory website it said my maximum was 3Gb, which seems kind of odd. I'm trying to find out from a more official source. But then the question is, do I buy a single 2Gb stick, and swap it with one of my Apple 1Gb sticks (giving me 3Gb), or should I buy 1x2Gb stick, and 1x1Gb stick, both Crucial to ensure compatibility?

Yeah, it can only take 3GB.

Doesn't really matter about having a matching pair though, just buy a single 2GB stick.
