I have an asus p4v800d-x mobo running a 478 socket P4 3Ghz & x2 sticks of crucial ddr400 pc3200 512mb ram, duel chaneled.

I have managed to get the P4 up to 3.7Ghz but i could only do this after slowing down the memory, i would like to upgrade the memory and was wondering if i could install faster memory say pc3500 or pc4000, and would it then allow me to overclock the P4 without slowing down the memory?

if so then can any one recomend what memory to go for?

any help would be apriciated. :D

thanks

Save your money and just use a divider, it shouldn't impact performance much at all. The extra you'll pay to stay at 1:1 won't be worth it.

Thanks for the advice, i was on verge of parting with £100 - £150 for some new ram thinking i would be in line for a nice performance boost. :(

oh well, i'll just have to wait until i build a new rig, when building a new rig should i be looking to buy faster ram than is actualy needed, if i'm going to overclock?

Thanks again. :D
