Im thinking of upgrading my ram in my computer,

which ram would you suggest (i do not want to overclock) i was thinking going 12gb? not that i would use it all. but saving upgrading again later.

My Current Specfication is
i7 940 @ 2.93ghz
6GB Gskill (3x 2GB @ 1066mhz)
ASUS P6T Dexule OC Palm Edition
570GTX
ASUS DX 7.1
1000w Cosair

i was thinking 3x4gb set as less strain on the CPU & i can sell my old set :>

I've used 6x2 Gb modules ad they run a lot better than lots of 3x4 Gb modules I've been through.

If you arent going to overclock, then you dont need to worry about any kind of strain.

is 1600mhz ram fine to get it should downclock to 1333mhzx automatically right?

1600 Mhz runs fine on X58, you dont need to get, or run it any lower.

just bought this,
12GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR3 PC3-12800 (3x4Gb Kit)
for £40

this should work right? (the shop is now out of stock):D

im guessing its decent ram then at a great price :D

Well its just basic 1600 Mhz Cas 9 ram, but you can rarely get anything much faster than that working on X58.

'Decent' for X58 would be Cas 7 1600 Mhz 4 Gb modules, or Cas 6 1600 Mhz 2 Gb modules.

But 4 Gb modules with those specs are far too expensive and not worth over double the cost of Cas 9 modules.

Its slightly better stuff than Corsair Vengeance ram though, if only because the current batch runs at a lower voltage, and the ram modules look a lot nicer and have black PCBs, plus they arent ridiculously oversized.
