Memory Upgrade (old PC)

Hi, I built a PC around 7 years ago with help from the forum :). It's worked fine for the games I've played, however I've recently gone full circle and rejoined WoW, which I stopped playing 9+ years ago and prompted the new build in the first place. I had a couple of crashes with messages relating to memory so I'm looking to upgrade it. At the moment I have (TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLD38G2400HC11CDC01)). Browsing the site for similar, obviously things have moved on and DDR4 is the new norm, which doesn't appear to work with my DDR3 accepting motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H). I don't seem able to find many options on 2400MHz, so I think my question is more to do with should I buy a lower pair (few options at 1600), or dig around and try ebay etc to keep in with the same? As a bit of a side question, if I go with a different frequency and there are bigger options, should I bother using the new and old or do it as a replacement (e.g. if I get 2x8GB 1600 should I use them alongside the existing pair or just take out the old as this is giving me an extra 8 anyway?)

Thanks for helping

Thank you both for replying, in the end I managed to find some Corsair 2x 8GB that I've successfully installed alongside the existing memory.
