I've just bought some Crucial Ballistix memory from the mm, it works fine but I cant get it to work with the 2x512 OCZ Platinum EB stuff I already have in there. I think 2 of the memory slots might be naffed since it haults on the POST when there are 4 sticks in there. It wont even start with 2 sticks in there when they are in the potentially faulty slots (1,3). The model number for the Crucial stuff is CL1116Q.8B (also 2x512) if that helps anyone. I'm just looking for suggestions and things to try before I RMA the board since nothing seems to work in 1,3 but works fine in 2,4.

Oh, I've updated the bios too.

Cheers.

I know that my mate bought PC3200 Corsair CL2 RAM 2 years ago...
Bought the same RAM this year, and they WILL NOT run all 4 together.
(Same mobo)

Does any memory work in slots 1 & 3?

If none of the sticks (individually) work in slots 1 or 3 then it would seem to be your mobo.
Have you tried them individually in those slots?
(IE - Not paired)

Havent tried them individually, will try it now. Also I don't know if it makes any difference but I have an Fx-53, which I think is pre the decent memory controllers for AMD.

Cheers for the advice.

Just tried them and slot 3 seems to be the offending one, nothings runs it in. Number 1 is fine. Guess it might be a rma.

Where to start? first off the 2 orange slots on DFI mobo's are for low voltage ram(below 3v)and the yellow slots are for high voltage ram(3v to 4v). With most mobo's all the ram should be the same, in your case your running with 2 different makes of ram with 2 completely different SPD settings:
Ballistix 2.5-4-4-8
OCZ 3-3-2-8
What makes you think that this combination will run in any mobo?
The reason it won't work in slot 3 is that it's low voltage ram and should be in slot 1.
If i hav'nt explained this very well then head off to DFI STREET and check yourself. It will become crystal clear.

Also if you are running 4x512mb with an A64 you need to use 2T timings for your RAM. :) It wont boot otherwise in my experience.
