Hi,

I've got a Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Motherboard and want to boost my ram up to about 12 gb (currently have 6gb DDR3).

The ram I currently have shipped with my rig from OcUK (think it's the OCZ gold brand) when I ordered it in 2009.

I just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction for the ram I need to buy on the store page? I'm looking at the Corsair Vengeance 12GB here but am not sure if it's compatible.

Also, once I get the memory is it just a case of inserting it into the Motherboard or do I need to do anything in the BIOS?

Many thanks in advance.

The corsair will work grand. Just make sure you will have enough clearance between your cpu cooler and the ram slots. If your system is overclocked, you might have to raise qpi voltage a tad. Though luckily when i moved from 6gb of ocz reaper to 12gb of kingston. I didnt have to change any voltages. Just set the timings of the ocz to match the kingston, shutdown and installed the new kit and it worked fine.

Thanks for your reply.

Just out of interest, would it be better to get 16gb of Dual Channel ram as opposed to 12gb of triple?

I've seen this Corsair option so am wondering what would be best.

X58 mobi is Tri Channel - 3x4GB Ram, using 3x4GB Vengence 1.5Vc- 9.9.9.22.1/ CPU:4.2GHz no problems at all.
