Hi there, i've read the FAQ's stickied at the top of this section, but can't find anything that answers my question.

I've got quite an old system that's starting to lag a little with applications, I do a fair bit of design & web work and i've noticed with apps over the last 12 months or so it slows right down with 2 or more open.

I'm currently using Corsair 1GBDDR (2x512MB) XMS3200 LLPT and am thinking of adding another gig of ram to the system, my questions are:

Does it have to be 3200, can it be lower/higher?

Does it have to be the same make?

If it can be lower/higher and can be a different make, will I get more benefit from using the same kind as is already in the system?

Im guessing it has to be the same speed as your 3200 because of the data transfer between your cpu etc.

i dont know about the same make but im 99% sure it has to be the same speed

You can add slower memory, but the whole lot will then run at the slower speed. Try to buy PC3200 again if possible.

It doesn't *have* to be the same model, but mixing memory (especially memory that uses a different brand of chips) can and often does cause problems.

Thnaks guys, so basically I just need to look out for some more Corsair 3200?

Also should I buy 2x512MB sticks again or just a 1GB stick?
