Hi

I currently running 512 of Geil cas 2 PC3500 on a a shuttle with an intel 2.4d, and I'm just wondering if its worth upgrading to 2GB of the Geil vaule 3200 thats on the oc site at the moment. Speed wise; I dont think my machine is slow running windows xp, but you dont miss what you never had... the only reason why I questioning the upgrade is that I'm just thinking of building a whole new machine but not until after the summer hols, so buying ddr memory is pointless as I be looking at getting ddr3/ddr2.

Do you game? Do you have 1 512Mb stick or 2x 256Mb sticks? if the fomer you can get another cheap 512Mb DDR second hand instead. 1Gb is enough for normal use until you get a brand new rig this summer.

I'm a retro game player... so the new FPS dont impress me much, and I only have a 9800pro.. the memory is 2x256 running in dual channel mode as that was the style when I built this machine.

Hmm probably a cheap 2x 512mb kit would do it then :)

There are some good deals for 1Gb kit to be had in members market.

For Windows XP I would now recommend 1GB. My HTPC hovers around 550MB with only OE, Opera and Slimserver service running! That's with XP MCE services trimmed right down (anything not required is terminated)
