If you game - then you really won't see any benefit in games when upgrading from 6GB.

However, if you are doing memory-intensive stuff like photoshop or CAD - then these task will definitely benefit from the extra memory available.

DDR3 prices don't seem to be going up any time soon - so I suggest sticking with what you have and upgrading when you feel you need to, you will end up paying less.

Most games would play perfectly with half the amount of RAM you already have. Why would you need 12GB on a primarily gaming system?!

As above. 4GB is plenty for every game except Metro 2033, so absolutely no point getting 12GB. Huge amounts of RAM can make overclocking more difficult as well.

Rather than clutter the boards with the same question again from myself, i thought id recycle this old one!

Basically other than the graphics card which is now a ASUS 7970 Plat and a beefy SSD its still the old rig from about 5 years ago

For purely a gaming rig is 6GB getting limited now? What would be the best upgrade if people thought the memory needed a revamp!?
