I have a Dell XPS 17 and thinking about upgrading memory from 8GB to 16GB
Would I notice any speeds changes upgrading to this amount of memory ?

I use Photoshop CS6 and have large Jpeg files ? and transfer large amounts of data

I shouldn't think so, it's my understanding that by default CS6 uses 70% of your memory. Unless you process many images over 5.6gb there won't be much difference. I may be wrong though!

On a side note, I have an XPS 17 also and if you got it without the 3D graphics card, Dell scrimped on the motherboard and allocated a different one to those without the 3D Nvidia card. The motherboard in question only has two memory slots instead of the four allocated to those who ordered a 3D card with the machine. You'd have to get two 8gb modules if this is the case with you. It was with me! Hence the research into it lol.

I have 2 slots , when I done a memory scan at Crucial it says the max is 8GB
