want to buy some new memory for my rig , something that's basically a lot faster than what I have now. my current memory is teamgroup elite black 8gb, not sure on what the clock is, although when I look on speccy it says "@ 799Mhz" , I know it probably not exact though.

any suggestions ?

what motherboard do you have? as the max speed of the ram will depend on what the max speed the board can take. the 1 in your doesn't give a model number to check

taken from the gigabyte website for the mobo

1.4 x DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 32 GB of system memory
* Due to a Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than the size of the physical memory installed.
2.Dual channel memory architecture
3.Support for DDR3 3100(O.C.) / 3000(O.C.) / 2933(O.C.) / 2800(O.C.) / 2666(O.C.) / 2600(O.C.) / 2500(O.C.) / 2400(O.C.) / 2200(O.C.) / 2133(O.C.) / 2000(O.C.) / 1866(O.C.) / 1800(O.C.) / 1600 / 1333 MHz memory modules
4.Support for non-ECC memory modules
5.Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules
(Please refer "Memory Support List" for more information.)

seems to support ram up to speeds of 3100 (OC)

how much do you currently have and how much do you want to go to?

I could afford a new rig but im just going to upgrade the main config. im thinking of trying to "future proof" it, gonna get a new cpu and gpu aswell. I made posts in the relative sections. I want something that's going to be really fast for silky smooth gameplay for any game.

edit : I think the master race bug may have infected me, who knows.
