I have just gone form 2gb of geil ull ram to 4gb (vista 64) and im a bit shocked.

When i had 2gb i used upto 900mb but now id upgraded to 4gb im now using 1272mb, and this is just sat at the desktop, no apps running only standard background progs.

Is it normal to use this much?

Now my windows index score has dropped aswell from 5.8 to 5.7, cant get round that one, thought it would have gone up not down.

Yes it's normal.

Vista caches quite a lot in memory, but releases it as soon as it's needed by something else.

And ignore the Vista score.

If you haven't diabled superfetch, it's actually using all four gigabytes, see the ''IN cache'' reading, with superfetch enabled it completly fills the ram regardless how much Ram you have.

As said: Ignore rating, the reason its lower is due to the higher latency of 4 mondules instead of 2, but there is no actual real world difference...
