memory usage on Win7 64 bit = 3GB limit

I have a question regarding my memory usage.

I've just checked using msinfo32.exe.

My results are as follows:

Does post #6 in this thread apply here? Is it treated differently on a 64-bit OS?

I don't have a 4GB 64-bit OS handy at the moment, so I can't check on it.

It kind of reminds me of the old DOS days, when even if 2MB of RAM was installed you could only use 640K of it. Thus having to force some apps and drivers to "load high" so it would free up some of that base memory.

Right gents. After a bit of digging around I found the solution (for future reference, for people having the same issue).

In my BIOS, I set MEMORY REMAPPING to ENABLED.

Doing the above, cured my problem.

My system info now reads:

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB
Total Physical Memory 4.00 GB
Available Physical Memory 3.20 GB
Total Virtual Memory 8.00 GB
Available Virtual Memory 7.18 GB
