Memory voltage - must it match the specifications?

Hi,

Just built my first build, I'm using 2 x 2GB Crucial Ballistix 7-7-7-24 1333MHz (Manufacturer part number: BL2KIT25664BN1337).

I have manually adjusted the timings in the BIOS to 7-7-7-24 as prescribed on the packaging.

Now, do I need to adjust the voltage? It is recommended to have 1.65v however at the moment it is left to 'Auto' in the BIOS (which I believe is 1.5v), and seems to be working fine?

Is memory like the CPU where more voltage equals more heat equals more wear etc?

Many thanks if anyone can advise me whether I need to change anything!

I would assume if it says to set it to 1.65v then doing so won't cause any wear to your components. Having it at lower voltage could make the system unstable.

Double check in the hardware monitor in bios or in windows with the motherboard manufacturer's system software. If u have stress tested it and its stable at lower voltage than stock, then there is no advantage to increasing the voltage.
