memtest : 1 error

My computer just restarted itself so i thought i would run memtest to check it.

while running about 5 minutes into it it came up that i had 1 error.

I currently have 16gb installed.

The rest of my specs are:

i72600k @4.6
Asus p8z68-v pro
560 2gb

What should i do?

RMA it back to manufacture and replace the RAM with another one but take the faulty RAM out. Otherwise it could cause Windows to corrupt your data.

I brought the computer pre made from a competitor. what would be the best way to move forward?

Contact them and say your computer fails memtest. 1 error is too many when it comes to RAM. You could find out which stick is causing the problems by testing each one on it's own but as the machine is a prebuilt just get them to do the work

Will that mean having to send the whole computer off to them though?

I would at least check the voltage is set correctly first.

I agree you shouldn't have to but it's a lost of hassle otherwise.
