system has been hell for days. It is blue screening with nv.sys, ct.sys and classpnp.sys errors all week, and I re-imaged, re-installed drivers, reset and reloaded my BIOS and so ran a memtest.

I got 27 errors on test 5 and a further 18 errors on test 8, left running for two hours, and it clocked up a massive 200+ errors.

the BIOS is handling the timings automatically ASUS P5B deluxe, C2D 6600 with 2GB Corsiar DDR2 Twin X2.

i'm about to rip out a module and run again, fails at 1250MB, 1025MB or something and I saw a 129 and 450 MB in there as well. Lots of errors, system is very un-stable, memory is only 4 weeks old, three weeks of rock solid, then every game and even music /video playback blue screens system.

Sounds like memory to me, possible CPU? Before I RMA the memory.

Ripped out one module leaving one on, did a single memtest run, tests 1 - 8

test 5 592.6 and 608.6 failed at 000100000
test 8 80.6 failed at fffefffff

Second module, i'm not even about to list them all, too many. both sticks appear buggered. But 1 stick seems less error'd then the 2nd one, time to RMA the memory I guess.. Bummer. corsair has always been rock solid for me.

edit -

Excuse me, I'm a muppet.. I mixed up the modules, and tested the same one twice. 2nd module passes everytime, without a single error. It is the memory at fault, not the CPU or a BIOS timing error. I'll RMA the bad stick. Never had an issue with corsair memory before, first time for anything really I guess.

Big thanks for suggesting changing to 2.0v in the BIOS. That actually worked. Ran memtest for nearly an hour not a single error.

Couldn't believe it, one single setting, and it allowed both modules to work, just shows how one setting can throw an entire system out, now to see if its stable again.

Why did it work for three weeks no issues, then in the last week so unstable though?

Although, now that I think about it, I DID upgrade the BIOS a week ago, so there you go. Answered my own question. doh..!! Thumbs up to you lot, you know your stuff..
